Throughout the first half of the twentieth century the horse and dray was a common sight in the country, towns and cities. They were used by everyone from the small local business, large brewers and manufacturers to the big railway companies. The drays varied little in appearance, this style had smaller front wheels and no specific seat for the driver. This design was favoured by the GWR.
